Cook w/ Your Sweetheart = Save $ & Calories
Cooking with your sweetheart can be awesome in a multitude of ways, but these few are my favorite reasons: 1) control over ingredients/nutritional content, 2) less expensive than eating out, 3) quality time together! If your loved one(s) has/have different eating habits than you do, try a happy compromise. The perfect compromise for my boyfriend and me is chicken tacos! The basic ingredient, chicken, is great for my health-conscious choices, and perfect for his palette. We can also happily share the salsa and guacamole – two naturally healthful and flavorful dishes. When it comes to the tortillas, he has regular flour, while I opt for whole-wheat. He adds cheese and I don’t. The result, two happy people who are happy with their choices!
- The lime chicken tacos recipe is found here (You can use a Splenda packet instead of the sugar, or leave the sugar out completely!)
- The guacamole here
- Any store-bought variety of salsa will work (We buy mild & chunky — hey that sounds like a personal description!)
The result:

If you want dessert, I would suggest making a batch of No Pudge brownies (no one can tell they are FAT-FREE! Muahah!)
