Congrats on your first video post! I’ll have to try a video post one day; I’m sure the toddler would love to star in it… ;)

I have only seen a few episodes of The Biggest Loser because I used to teach in the evenings (and we don’t record any shows – we are technologically several decades behind everyone else…) I think seeing people push themselves is cool, but the amount of weight that they are losing and the artificial environment they are in is not. I think it can send the wrong message. In blogland, so many people are disappointed when they “only” lose two pounds in a week. Two pounds is great, and hopefully due to small changes that the “loser” is able to maintain. I think many Biggest Loser participants gain quite a bit of their weight back, no?

On the other hand, I’m sure I would like to “get to know” the participants from week to week if I watched the show regularly. It was cool to see people really supporting “their” player!

Sorry, this is a VERY boring and serious response… Have a great weekend, and enjoy The Biggest Loser! ;)

My Hubby and I haven’t watched the biggest loser. I’m not sure why but he doesn’t like to watch it. Sometimes I wonder if it’s due to the fact that he’s overweight himself.
If we didn’t have jobs, or kids to take care and maintaining our surroundings, we could spend hours in the gym like they do.
Blogs like these give us the encouragement that we need to keep going.
Thanks for the video, it’s nice to see a real person in action :)

I think the Biggest Loser is an inspiring show. I’ve been listening to Jillian Michael’s podcasts, and she explains that it is supposed to be extreme, to show people – hey, if that person can lose 10 pounds in a week, maybe I can lose 10 pounds in a month.
She’s quick to admit that there are some not-so-great things about the show.
I really like to watch it – I find that I get pumped up to work out after watching the show! But I also know that I can’t do what they’re doing – I don’t have my whole day to work out, you know? But I’m okay with that!

Aw, you make a real cute vlogger! Is it wrong to admit that I have watched an eppy or two of Biggest Loser just to feel better about myself?

Annabel – you are so comfortable and natural in front of the camera — ever consider a career in broadcasting?! I’d watch ya errryday!

I <3 the biggest loser because it gives hope to people on their weight loss journeys that they CAN do it naturally through adopting healthy diet and exercise plans and that they don’t need these crazy “miracle pills” that are on the market!

your beautiful face was such a wondddddeeerful way to start the day — thanks girlfriend :) !

Is it a perfect reality show? Of course not. But, we are a nation where two thirds of the adult population is either overweight or obese. At least this show provides a popular venue where weight loss and health gain is the focus. One message you can’t help but take away is that losing weight is not easy. It takes commitment to eat well and to exercise to build strength.

The product placement is unbelievably cheesy, but overall I like the show.

Love the video post! I need to figure that out.. poor tech NOT savvy me!

I know a lot of health bloggers hate The Biggest Loser but I like it. I agree with your comments BUT I also agree with the other commenter that I really dislike these product placements they have added in more & more thru the years. Got to pay for it I guess.

Like you, I like seeing people push themselves because I do think most people can do more than they think they can & this show has even pushed me to do more. Also, they have noted more & more in recent seasons that this is not a normal workout for people so I do appreciate that. I also like that many of the contestants bring the healthy habits home to family & friends & go on to teach or speak fitness so good is being passed on. And in many cases, lives were saved so that is a good thing.

Keep up that video post Annabel!

I used to watch the biggest loser, I got out of it. Mainly because at the time I quit (a couple of seasons ago) I wasn’t doing anything about my weight. I was EATING while watching it, etc… Just leading a totally unhealthy lifestyle. I felt WRONG watching it. It wasn’t giving me ANY motivation to change my life and my portion distortion is more in my view of my self (ok and on the plate). Although at the time I was only 205, I saw myself as a 400lb person. I still do some times. mainly in pictures. I’m working on that. :) Anyhow… seeing myself in them… just made me feel worse. Too bad it took losing my dad to push me into gear. I wish the show could have been the motivation i needed. I did catch the last season finale. Seeing before and after is always motivating. If only we all got make overs right? I’m planning on my own in Decemeber no matter where I am. :) :):) I just wish they did more AFTER the finale was over to help people that enter the show stay on track and on a healthy lifestyle. Can’t teach a person to fish and then tell them to go get dinner without a pole. Doesn’t work. Which is what i feel like being on the ranch does. Anyone can do what they are forced to do on the ranch… but at home… it’s sink or swim and most sink. Anyhow…

Great vlog post. I like seeing and hearing the voice of the person who makes me think… way more than I some times want to. hehehehehahahahaha!! JK! :)

LOVE the video post!

As for TBL – I started watching this year, about half-way through the season. I really got hooked, and as another poster stated, I get pumped to go workout when I watch it. (usually I do a couple of pushups/situps when watching their “last chance workouts”) LOL

Is it real? No, it’s reality television…

oh I’m so not a “on camera” type of gal! BUT YOU, YOU look so wonderful! I love love love it!

I watched a season a couple years ago of Biggest Loser but haven’t gotten into it since – BUMME! Probably next September, now that school is done I’ll have more time!

Well done for doing a video post! You did great!

We don’t get the show here, so I do not really have an informed opinion. From what I’ve heard I don’t think it would be something I’d endorse though.

You are so cute. :)

Hmm. The Biggest Loser. I love it because it is inspiring, it focuses on fitness, and it helps people change their lives and inspire others to do the same thing. I HATE it because it focuses on huge unrealistic loses, its all about the drama, it pushes unhealthy habits, and the contestants sometimes tell bad stories after they finish the show. So there is good and bad about it, but I still like to watch.

What a cute video! I agree that the BL is very motivating! I think you would like Jillian’s podcasts on KFI radio. You can find them online if you google KFI Jillian podcasts.
