Challenge Update #9 — THE END
Happy Monday, guys!
Today marks the day that Jen and I were to give our final challenge recaps and reflections. Since it just doesn’t feel right to relish the culmination of this 2-month journey while my partner is in mourning, I am foregoing the recap. Thank you so much to everyone who supported Jen and me as we worked through our final 10 pounds and thanks and kudos to everyone who made their own challenges and struggled alongside us. You guys seriously ROCK!
Two months ago, when I asked you guys here and Jen asked here who was joining us in the challenge, we learned that many of you had health goals much different from our own, but all leading back to the quest for a healthy and happy quality of life. And, of course, we offered up the scrumptious incentive of Holey Donuts! We have chosen 2 winners each via random numbers generated from Random.org — first place for the Holey Donuts and second place gets an assortment of hand-made greeting cards made by Jen’s sister Heidi.
Winners of mine – 1st place Holey Donuts winner is Charley, 2nd place cards winner is Jenny from the Block
Winners of Jen’s – 1st place Holey Donuts winner is Jen, 2nd place cards winner is Diet Girl Mel
Congrats! I will be e-mailing all of you!

- Time Magazine’s, “Swiss Chocolate Invention: The No-Melt, Low-Fat Volcano” (7/22/09) here — Excerpt: “By coming up with a chocolate that doesn’t liquefy between your fingers (or in your pocket), Barry Callebaut has managed to create something that many chocolate makers have tried before but never accomplished. Former attempts at melt-free chocolate — including one by U.S. manufacturer Hershey — resulted in rock-hard bars that were a struggle to break, let alone eat. And the quest for a low-calorie bar has long been stymied by the tricky issues of flavor and texture. According to Tschofen, Vulcano — which gets its name from the little air bubbles it contains that conjure up images of volcanic lava — has a crispy, crunchy texture rather than creamy but tastes as good as regular chocolate.” Likely 2 years before it hits markets.

Congratulations to both you and Jen for doing so well in this challenge. You have showed a lot of courage and determination and inspired all of us.
Congratulations to everyone for all the hard work they put in for the challenge.
I met my goals for the challenge & really, truly enjoyed participating.
Even though I hit my goal, I’ve decided to make a donation to my chosen charity in honor of Jen’s mom. It feels like the right thing to do.
I’ve got another month to go for a different challenge & have 3lbs left to hit that mark by Sept 1, but I’m hoping to go beyond the original goal.
congratulations on all your hard work! obviously, this is bittersweet with the passing of jen’s mom, but you guys did awesome. you are all an inspiration!
Congrats on making your goal, and you both put an amazing amount of work into it, and you are both totally inspiring. Jen’s mom was obviously proud too!
I’m new to the party so I didn’t see the start of it but I’ve enjoyed watching your progress! Personally, my body and I have definitely had some work to do getting reacquainted with each other after pushing it through a half marathon, so we’ve been hanging out about the same weight. But I have faith that eventually we’ll get back on track together and the scale will move. I think eating more is the right thing to do even if I’m not seeing immediate results.
Have a great Monday!
Great job in the goals!
I am continuing to pray for Jen.
My challenges have been met and I am continuing to strive towards a healthy lifestyle
Super interesting news pieces!

Congrats to you both even though our thoughts & prayers are with Jen & her family.
On challenges, every day is a new challenge!
Congrats on accomplishing your goal! Jen’s mom will certainly be in our thoughts.
Congratulations to you both. Even though I didn’t know Jen, she’s still in my thoughts and prayers.
I am so sorry for Jen’s loss. But congratulations for succeeding with your challenge.
I am really interested to read the articles you posted; thanks for sharing!
Great job with the challenge! You rocked it!! Even though it’s bittersweet now of course, but I’m proud of you, you 128 lb woman!!
Sorry I’m a little late with my post…life tends to get in the way. I’m very sorry to hear about Jen’s loss. Please send my condolences.
I did want to share that because of your challenge…I was able to drop from 252 lbs. to 222lbs. Still working on it…but not bad for a chubby dude who sits on his ass most of the day.
Thanks again for all of your inspiration kiddo.
