Weddings & Cereal = Things I’d Never Tire Of!

Happy Monday?   Good luck to all my peers starting classes today!

So, the wedding yesterday was beautiful, albeit flippin’ hot!  It was on a golf course and it was well over a 100 degrees, but thankfully that was only for the ceremony and the reception was in a nice air-conditioned banquet room.

Now, I’ve only been to one wedding before my brother’s and I didn’t shed the waterworks but I did get a little misty-eyed.  At this wedding?  I was balling my eyes out!  It began when the bride and groom (my brother) greeted each other at the altar, got worse with the maid-of-honor’s touching toast and climaxed when my mom gave her toast (which she began with a burst of a sob so we were all set up for what a tear-jerker it would be!).  Between crying, chasing my niece, the flower girl, around the banquet hall a thousand times, and dancing, I was one exhausted blogger by the end of the night!

The marriage between mouth and food:
Photobucket
Pre-dinner salad and bread (oh and appetizers of crackers, cheeses and veggies were consumed too!)
Photobucket
Vegetarian tortellini with vegetables and marinara sauce. This was delicious! But whoa — they ain’t kiddin’ when they say portion sizes are out of control. I gave half to my mom to share, ate a quarter in one sitting then finished the other quarter by being spoon-fed by the boyf as I watched my niece. Lol. We’re lame, eh?
Photobucket
The boyf’s plate. He said it was muy delicioso.
<Insert picture of cake here>
Umm I have no picture of the cake — how sad! I guess that’s a testament to how good it was!

My gorgeous mom and me after the ceremony.

I would post more pix, but I haven’t gotten all the permissions from family members :( And as an ethical blogger (i.e. I don’t want to get my a** served to me on a platter), I will refrain until then! :D

New Product Alert
Photobucket
Kashi Honey Sunshine Cereal — Per 3/4 cup serving:  100 calories, 1.5 g fat, 6 g fiber, 2 g protein

I got a free sample of this cereal and here’s the deal:  I thought it tasted okay.  I like the nutrition stats — 6 g of fiber a serving is sweet.  But the taste is nothing special.  Its main ingredient is corn meal followed by cane syrup and, ya know, that’s pretty much exactly what it tastes like.  Not great, not bad, just kinda like any other corn-based cereal.

(Now that I’ve sold you on it LOL) Would anyone like $1.50 off of this cereal?  I have five coupons!  First five to request in the comments get ‘em.

What is currently your favorite cereal?  What was your favorite cereal growing up? Growing up Pops was my favorite cereal ever!  Followed by Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Do you guys cry at weddings?

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Hey, thanks for commenting on my blog!
I have only been to a couple of wedding but I am definitely a crier!
Glad we feel the same way about that cereal – corny and kinda blah, right? I mean not bad, just not up to Kashi’s normal standards.
My fave cereal right now (aside from oatmeal) is Kashi Go Lean Crunch but as a child it was most definitely Co Co Pops – I think they’re called CoCo Crispies here…delish.

I too LOVE weddings! I think it is just so romantic :) I better be invited to yours! Lol (as in i don’t mean to rush you….not as in i don’t think you’ll get married : ). And i cry at about EVERY wedding i attend.

Growing up my favorite cereal was Cookie Crunch. I had it once as an adult and felt so guilty about it. Just the name alone!

My favorite cereal now is: Nature’s Path Organic Pumpkin FlaxPlus Granola. It is DELICIOUS! And 1 small serving goes a LONG way.

I am a ball of tears at any wedding I’m at, no matter how well I know them or not!

You & your mom look beautiful, the food looks amazing! I love the idea of a sunday wedding!

sounds like it was a great wedding! you and your mom are so cute. i have never cried at a wedding.. hmm, maybe i have a heart of stone?? naw…

fave cereal?! how can i pick? cereal is in my top 5 favorite foods of all time. i like it all. some that stick out are TJ’s 9 grain honey almond flax and crispix and honey bunches of oats. who am i kidding, i love all cereal.

Goodness… As a kid my favorite cereal was anything by the Captain, crunch that is. :) hhhmmmm… We didn’t get it very often, so when we did… it was coveted and gone in no time flat. :) LOL I still love all of them and they still don’t last ANY amount of time in my house. I STILL don’t buy them. hehehehe!!

I love weddings, if I cry or not just depends. I don’t know, I wish i could say it was any particular thing that will or won’t make me cry. I never know when i’ll cry at a wedding. I didn’t cry at mine until my dad stood up and sang (that was a BIG surprise for me).

Anyhow… Have a great day getting back to the grind of things. :)

Requesting the coupon!

By the way, you looked absolutely gorgeous at your brother’s wedding. Congratulations to him.

Oh, and my favorite cereal is Honey Graham Oh’s, but you’re better off enjoying it for a dessert type thing every once in awhile. It’s amazing though. Amazing.

Loved the pics on facebook – seeing that made me realize that all this wedding stress will hopefully have an awesome payoff in about a month. *stress*. My fave cereal right now is kashi honey and cinnamon oatmeal, eaten dry. Yes, I am well aware that I am weird. I think I tried the cereal you mentioned and had the same reaction. It was *alright* but nothing to write home about.

You look fabulous!

Your dinner portion is hilarious! It’s as if they think that if you’re not eating meat, you must be starving…

I love going to weddings, as well….they’re so much fun, aren’t they?
The food looks delish and that’s a great pic of you and your mother…you both look georgy!!!!

Best,

Amie

I’ve never really been a big crier, but now that I’m married I do find myself getting sappy and sentimental at weddings.

My favorite cereal as a kid was Life, and I loved Cap’n Crunch but I hated how it tore up the roof of my mouth! My favorite cereal now is definitely Kashi Go Lean Crunch Honey Almond Flax.

» Jenny said: { Aug 31, 2009 - 01:08:00 }

oh god i am a blubbering idiot at weddings — even when i watch them on TV and have no idea who the heck the couple is — there’s just something so beautiful about them!

p.s. you’re drop dead gorg, just sayin

» Gina said: { Aug 31, 2009 - 04:08:05 }

I’d love the coupon! My cereal stash is running low, lol! When I do have cereal my favorites are definitely Kashi GoLean Crunch and Cookie Crisps!. When I was younger I used to put little dabs of cream cheese in between two Cookie Crisps and eat it like a sandwich, so addicting!

You look gorgeous at the wedding!!!

oh and I cry everytime, and I even tear up when watching those dang wedding shows too! i’m a softy like that

i don’t know what number i am, but if there are any left, I LOVE that cereal. tastes like healthified capn crunch to me.

ohhhh you and your mom are ador :) weddings don’t usually get me either, but once in awhile, when the bride walks down the aisle, i wipe away the tears before anyone can see. and that tortellini looks fab! i don’t think i’ve had delish wedding food like that before.

added to the blogroll :)

You are truly beautiful Anabel!

» MamaBearJune said: { Sep 1, 2009 - 01:09:51 }

Yeah, I get misty eyed at weddings. You and mom look MAHVELOUS!

I am not too fond of Kashi Honey Sunshine. I was hoping for a Cap’n Crunch thing, but it was a disappointment. I do love Kashi Mountain Medley and Cocoa Beach. Frosted Mini Wheats is probably my fave, though. :-)

Not usually a commenter but you look GEORGOUS

» tra said: { Sep 1, 2009 - 04:09:21 }

coupons! whoa! sounds good!

» Karell said: { Sep 2, 2009 - 02:09:44 }

They’re giving away samples of this and some other flavors at kashi.com. Maybe mention it (if I didn’t already miss it) in your blog for anyone that didn’t get one of your coupons? I know whenever I get free samples I get really decent coupons with them, and of course free cereal! :-)
