How Would Your Biography Read?

Hey guys!

I was thinking of the concept of biographies today and giggled as I thought about how absolutely boring my biography would be.  I mean, really, it should be required reading for high-security prisons because it would totally lull inmates to sleep with it’s calm and boring descriptions.  Every biography needs a climax or a turning point, or something that makes us think the person we’re reading about is interesting in some way, don’t you think?  Would your biography be interesting to read?  What has been one of your life’s ‘turning points’?  If you were writing an autobiography, would you rewrite any of your past?

I can’t help but wonder…is the most interesting part of my biography going to be my weight loss?  Hmm…not sure I’d be happy with that.

Off to think more!

In the News

  • Los Angeles Times‘, “Fitness Fanatic or Couch Potato? Blame Your DNA” (9/8/09) here — Another reason to blame something out of your control…JUST KIDDING!  I totally buy the concluding statements that we may be more or less inclined to exercise based on genes, but environmental factors aid or detract which means we can certainly change the environment to suit what’s best for us, no?
  • Science Daily‘s, “Infertility And The Battle Of The Sexes: Evolutionary Explanation For Today’s Fertility Problems?” (9/10/09) here
  • Science Daily’s, “Imitate To Communicate: Even Singers In The Bird World Have To Deal With Cover Artists” (9/10/09) here — I just thought this was funny. They say imitation is a form of flattery (I think it’s just annoying), but turns out it’s also a survival mechanism.

I would never authorize a biography… There’s no way I’m going to resurrect some of my memories. The past is the past. I’m a different person now.

I’ve considered starting a memoir of sorts. I think I could at least embellish a little and make my life interesting. ;) I guess that’s a benefit of the “jack of all trades, master of none” life experiences I’ve had. I’m not super great at anything, but the stories trying to be… priceless…

Honestly, I think I have been pretty boring but maybe other people think otherwise. I did do some interesting things once I got really into fitness like 5k’s that I places in & won & a couple bodybuilding contests that I won… but on the whole, I am not too exciting.

Honestly again, I would do things differently if I knew then what I know now but thinking that way is too frustrating & counter productive so I stay away from there.

haha this is a great question.. I think my biography would be pretty lame to tell you the truth :) ah well, all the more incentive to do something that would make it more exciting!

Everyone has a story to tell…and all would be interesting. The older I get, the more I incorporate my failings into the bigger picture of who I am. Just today I was noticing how a thought “i am weak” made me feel less than, anxious, doubtful. That was my initial story. After recognizing it, I was able to notice me in my life as creative, strong, clear…
and no, the most interesting part of your story isn’t going to be weight loss. It is going to be your striving towards the fullest you you can be….

i don’t know if mine would be too interesting to read either :)

The most interesting part is not the weight loss but what that weight loss has contributed to the way you live, think, behave, learn, move, love, etc. What you have learned and done and said along that journey is the interesting part…not the 150+ pounds of fat you left behind.

Mine would definitely be a cure for insomnia anyway! I suppose I’m happy to live a relatively uneventful life though…
