The Jolly Postman
Hey guys! Do you remember the children book series called The Jolly Postman imported from England (mmm just like my loves Daniel Day Lewis and Orlando Bloom)?
I used to *love* those books! They were so artistically well-done and so much fun to read because I got be an active participant and open the letters, usually addressed to well-known fairy tale characters, on each page. I totally recommend these books if you need any gift ideas for children (or for anyone actually — they’re so cute!).
In addition to The Jolly Postman, I also happen to the love the postal service (both the actual postal service that brings me mail and the band The Postal Service, by the way). When I was little, I used to love to write letters. My best friend growing up and I would send letters back and forth to each other even though we went to the same school and lived only blocks away from each other. I still have most of those letters, by the way. I should do a video post on some of the things that fascinated us little girls back then, but I think I might embarrass my friend lol. I would also send letters to my favorite place ever…SEA WORLD. I know that most people think Disneyland is the best amusement park, but for me it’s always been Sea World. I would send them letters telling them how I wanted to be a killer whale trainer when I grew up and their marketing people would actually send me letters back! Talk about good P.R., eh? I would get nice glossy 8x10s of Shamu and the penguins, playing cards and games, and they even sent me the list of college courses I would have to take to get into their program. I was like nine, you guys, and I think that’s so cute they did that. Anyway, this is becoming quite a tangent!
Why all this talk about the postal service? ‘Cuz the post-woman who delivers my mail has brought me so many awesome things lately! I want to give a shout out to my girl Janetha for the adorable package she sent me as part of Special K’s “Share
Yourself” post.

I am so stoked to finally get to try Justin’s p.b. and a.b. and a ProBar! And I’m loving the muesli and everything else. Thanks for sharing, Janetha!
And to my secret Share Yourself buddy, your package is going out today, so hold tight!
I also want to give a shout out to Sahar at FatFighterTV for the wine charms she sent my way for losing my final 10 in Jen and my This Ain’t No Freshman 15, it’s the Final 10 Challenge.

Oh and here’s a shout-out to the post-woman who delivers my mail because she puts up with Cody who acts like a rabid beast whenever the mail is delivered. Here’s to putting out positive karma on behalf of my misbehaved dog!
Alright guys, I need to fit in a nice run. Yesterday there was not enough food in the world to satisfy my appetite. Ever feel like that? I truly think it was a result of my lack of sleep.
What’s on the agenda today? Do you have any pen pals? Did you when you were little? What did you want to “be” when you were little?

You’re gonna love the Justin’s PB. YUM!! SO GOOD
I had penpals when I was younger! Your post took me right back – we just don’t send letters like we used to as kids? I loved receiving a letter from my french penpal – I looked at the envelope and stamp for hours not believing it really came from France!
As for what I wanted to ‘be’. My only ambition as a kid was to be a fire control operator and answer 999 calls – only because my dad was a fireman and I was in total awe of him!
ahhh I have the christmas jolly postman! I look forward to reading it all year
thanks for the nostalgia today, I needed it
awesome package.. Janetha is such a gem!
My fifth grade friend and I exchanged letters for years after I moved away. We met up 30 years later on Facebook.
When I was a nanny in France, I exchanged letters with a fellow South African girl who worked in a nearby village. I also still have all the letters my father wrote me while I was there.
These days I belong to http://www.postcrossing.com, so I receive postcards from all over the world. I’m thrilled every time a postcard arrives and I choose the ones I send with great care.
omg me and DAniel have been in a relationship since I was 5 and he was the last Mohican LOL…geeze Im getting old bc that was like 17 yrs ago! ahhhhh

Lo
Whenever we went on vacation I always met a new “buddy” and we would write letters back and forth–sometimes for years. I LOVED getting mail…I too kept those letters for years (so add me to the “embarrassment list” if you will!)
By the way I’m still a believer in good, old-fashioned handwritten thank-you notes.
SO SO SO bright a day is when there’s a special package just for you waiting….so neat!
You are amazing….and I need your help again for recipes for my Amazing Race Giveaway!
That is quite a stash!!! ENJOY! Oh, and yes, I do have days when I feel I could eat & eat… usually hormones going whacko!
=) I’ve still got boxes FULL of letters! <3
P.S. DDL is my best imaginary beau. So eloquent, such a gentleman, and what a fashion sense!
<3 ya!!
P.P.S. The Jolly Postman is *still* on my list of reads, as it was always checked out from the library at school. I never got my chance to read it!

(I just completely autopilot filled out my full real name (too much school stuff huh?) on the last comment, haha- if you could not post it/ change it to just Nathalie, or Freddie, that’d be great lol!)
I love sending written letters and cards to people. I’m hoping to pass that on to my kids. Not just to keep in touch with other people, but things like thank you notes…too many times those little niceties get overlooked.
I absolutely love that you sent letters to Sea World…and they were nice enough to respond. We’re heading there next year & cannot wait.
hey girl! i am just catching up on all my weekend reading that i missed. so glad you got the package! yay!
