Two New Snacks Under 200 Calories

Hey guys!

Two new loves have entered my life…the Clif Kid Z Bar and a frozen peach with peanut butter…

Clif Kid Z Bar

Stats

  • Delicious.  Organic.
  • They look little (they’re meant for kids, after all, but they are same in weight to most Kashi bars…yes, I checked…)
  • 120-130 calories, 2-4 g fat, 3 g fiber, 3 g protein for the Chocolate Brownie, Honey Graham or Chocolate Chip flavors
  • $10.79 for a 24-pack of the three flavors listed above at Costco (a little over a buck more than a 24-pack of Kashi TLC Fruit and Grain bars) — Breaks down to $0.45/bar

Peach and Naturally More

I halved and de-pitted a peach, shoved a tablespoon of peanut butter where the pit went, placed on parchment paper and then in the freezer for 30 minutes.  I took it out, quartered it, took a bite and decided I’d stand outside its window with a giant radio blasting “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel..it was good…

It may have been more delicioso than usual because I used Naturally More Peanut Butter.  I was hesitant to try a p.b. that had flax seed and egg whites mixed in (oh and sugar and wheat germ too)…but, seriously, it turned out to be one of the best peanut butters I’ve ever had (must be the added sugar, not gonna lie!).  The almond butter was insanely good too (though I needed to borrow Popeye’s arm to be able to mix in the separated oil when I first opened it…it was like a brick, no kidding…).  Oh and uh…note to self…we may need to put a lock on the fridge.  Just ‘cuz no one will catch you with the spoon in the p.b. jar at 2 a.m., doesn’t mean the event miraculously never happened.  As Shakira says, the “hips don’t lie.”

Stats on Naturally More Peanut Butter

  • Ingredients: roasted peanuts, wheat germ, flax seed, cane sugar, egg whites, honey, flax seed oil
  • Cost: $18.95 + $6.95 shipping for a 6-pack via their site here (breaks down to $3.16/jar w/o shipping).  You can also find at Whole Foods.
  • Note: Also available in organic and almond butter

Wooo first! Must be a slow day at work…

Peach and peanut butter – that sounds delightful! I’ve done apples and strawberries but never peaches. Will have to give that a try.

I have 2 z-bars sitting at home and they have for months. I just thought they were too small and didn’t have much nutritional oomph to them (like my zone bars that are 12g protien and 180 calories or my kashi stuff that’s 8g protien and 5g fiber at 150 calories). If you’re giving them such praise though, I’ll have to give em a try. :)

Two of my non-obvious faves (cuz lets face it – we all know about hummus and pita chips and veggies, or greek yogurt with something in it, and fruit/veggies, etc):
-turkey pepperoni, brie, and melba toast. You can have 5 of them (and munch on some extra pepperoni too) for under 200 calories.
-just making a big greekish salad with fat free italian, green and black olives, feta cheese, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers sometimes works when I am *HUNGRY* but it’s not yet really mealtime.

Have a great day!

Clif Z bars are so great! The chocolate brownie is my fave, too!

I cracked up at your peach/pb experience! I heart John Cusack! Anyway, never thought of that combo! Sounds good :)

If you haven’t tried a *microwaved* zbar, you must!

Hmmm peaches with Peanut Butter?! That is something I have yet to try. Of course I’m biased and peanut butter tastes pretty much good on anything….

I love peanut butter on apples. Of course that snack is only under two hundred calories if I keep the PB portion in check… I’ll admit it sometimes gets away from me. ;)

I’m also really enjoying this dark chocolate I got from Ikea, 1/3 of the bar is under 200 cal, and oddly enough I just feel so satisfied afterward. So yum.

We don’t have clif z bars in my city! But I really want to give them a try.

Anything with PB is a good snack in my books :D

Hey, the people that make Naturally More are the same that make my fav Power Peanut Butter which has more protein than Naturally More. I saw on their website that they are selling Naturally More at other places beside Whole Foods too. Wish they made my power PB in organic though!

I love peaches too!

Have a great weekend!
