All My Bags Are Packed, I’m Ready to Go

So I packed up my life into two bags…my books, my laptop, my snacks, etc., put on my boyfriend’s jacket (which makes me feel like a manly mountain traveler), lugged them over to school and here I am trying to study!  Picture me at the Starbucks (in my school library) sitting in a big comfy chair, my shoes off (is that gross?), snuggled in my man jacket, listening to Zoe Keating on my iTunes, sipping my skinny vanilla latte, and surrounded by my books and good intentions to be productive!

Some of the goods I brought on my journey:

  • Carrots and celery sticks
  • Craisins 100 calorie pack of cranberries
  • Larabar Peanut Butter Jelly Bar (Have not tried this yet…)
  • Banana

When I get home, I have it on the agenda to do a nice 5-mile run and try my very first green monster!  I had said I would never drink those things (because I was a close-minded fool!), but after my post here and some of the comments on how I could consume more vegetables, I pulled an Elizabeth Bennet and went through some major self-reflection.  Said to self, “umm, fool, you’re only screwing yourself by not trying out blended veggie juice!” So, alas, I shall try one and video tape my first sip for all the world my five readers to see!

What are you guys up to today? Have you guys tried a green monster or veggie-based juices?

<3,

The Cranky One

sounds like a wonderful afternoon…except for the homework part!

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the green monster. I have not yet jumped on this train yet but I’m intrigued…

Oooh I hope you like your first green smoothie! If you use a super ripe banana, the natural sweetness is perfect. And if you don’t like the taste of it, add a little nut butter to help mask it even more. They are my favorite and I drink them alllllll the time. So good!

Good luck with the studying! I’m trying to do that right now but for some reason I keep opening up Gmail & Google Reader… bad idea!

I have had a few Green Monsters. Mine are usually pretty simple: spinach, bananas, ice, protein powder, water… or some variation thereof. I’ve never tried them with more vegetables than just spinach, but you can barely even taste the spinach and the energy you get afterwards is incredible. Hope you enjoy your experience!

I just don’t know about drinking something that is green. I love vegetables but I’m not sure about them in liquid form. I keep seeing more and more people jump on the green monster band wagon…so I might just have to give it a try. I can’t wait to see what you think!

Yes, I have tried the green monsters, and they are suprisingly good. You can’t even taste the spinach if you have fruit in there. It just tastes like the fruit you add. I only like these in warm weather, though.

My green monsters always come out purple because I add strawberries, blueberries and pomegranate juice. Very tasty!

Hi Annabel:

I am not a fan of the taste of veggie juices, but I have also not tried very many (other than the fruit/veggie mixes that V8 came out with) so you’ll have to keep me in the loop. I am also a graduate student and can relate to the necessity of productivity. Do you find it difficult to balance your health with all your other responsibilities?

I am looking for a cheap, decent blender to try one. The VitaMix are just too expensive.

Oh the great life of a student! Indeed the old study in starbucks sans shoes. I do that, so who cares if it’s gross? Curling up with shoes, so not the same!

I have totally done the green monsters. I love them.

I’m not a fan of other veggie drinks (V8….). :p

I’ve not yet tried a green monster but I probably will now you’ve posted that link. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with your first one! I’ll probably post about my first one sometime for my three readers to see!

Will be curious what you think of the green monster. I am not there yet! Good that you bring your own stash to those coffee places too! :-)

never tried a GM! I feel like such a lame blogette – they intimidate me for some reason. I like my veggies in solid form :) Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

cant wait to see the crankiness caught on video drinking the green.

I dont think I said I never would—but I NEVER DID until I had my daughter and wanted HER to drink the Shrek Shake Spinach Goodness.

Haven’t tried a green monster, though I have had a spinach pineapple soda and it tasted like…pineapple. I have nothing against them, I just generally eat my veggies and my blender is usually used for adult beverages.

Hmmm, I wonder if it negates all the health benefits by adding vodka…. ;)

Good luck with all the studying. Been a longlong time for me and can’t say I miss school. Always thought I would. So don’t. :)
