I Love Nutella, So I Set Him Free

Hey guys, happy Saturday!

So I was strolling through Costco yesterday (it was another wild and crazy Friday night in the duet that is my boyf and me) and I was grabbing the usual things (i.e. my drug of choice Alternative Pitas, Tribe Hummus, Oroweat Double Fiber Bread) when I heard a word belted across the aisle that hit me like Cupid’s arrow right in the gut.  I halted as my heart beat wildly with anticipation and I asked, “She didn’t say Nutella, did she?”

Sure enough…there was a Costco attendant giving samples of that chocolate hazelnut spread that conjures images of quaint European towns and makes me salivate like Pavlov’s dog.

Even though I knew what it tasted like (heaven, by the way) and knew I wouldn’t by it (you’re delusional if you think I could control myself with a jar of that), I had a sample of it — a generous dollop on a graham cracker.  I cried a little inside and moved on.  The boyf looked confused when I said I loved it but wouldn’t buy it.  I don’t think he understands that Nutella and I have one of those romances where the saying, “if you love something, set it free” couldn’t be any more apt.

In other news, I’m off to celebrate my cousin’s birthday on a yacht tonight.  Fancy schmancy, eh?  I’m feelin’ a little trepidation thinking about the food options…We’ll see!

What are you guys up to today?  Have you tried Nutella?  What is a food you just don’t trust yourself around?

And in HEAB fashion, I’ll leave you with a quote from the boyf:

“I dreamt you were a prostitute selling your body at a music hall before we met.”

How….sweet?….

p.s. Enter to win a case of Nutella here!

When I was little, I didn’t like bread.

So, I used to eat spreads – nutella, peanut butter, honey – FROM A SPOON.

Its the best way, but also the most evil way. Congrats on not buying a jar and covering yourself with it.
:)

Have to admit …. I am not a big fan of nutella.
Sorry.
It’s just not peanut btter. ;)

I’m studying today…. and procrastinating. Mostly procrastinating.

I lurve Nutella! I dollop it on oatmeal or just eat it off the spoon. So, it’s rare (really rare) in the house. I also have to limit things like candy corn and reeses mini pb cups.

Every once in a while a ‘normal’ food, like cashews, has to be banished for a while if I get binge-y.

Oh, Nutella… how I love you! How I miss you! You and all your hydrogenated fat goodness. How there is no way I would EVER enter a contest to win a case of you!

My favourite way to eat Nutella is on toasted white bread with butter. Since I don’t buy Nutella, white bread or butter I am safe.

If I do happen to buy a jar I just eat the entire thing with a spoon. Not so good.

Glad to see that contest is only open to US citizens or I would be entering…and buying an electric spoon.

I can’t be around sour keys and not want to eat one…okay eight…of them.
I am totally addicted to candy, especially the sugary sour kind, and should probably only have a long distance relationship with it.

Nutella can be dangerous… The teenager made me buy the Nutella at Costco (two huge jars!!!). Luckily, he and his friends finish one jar pretty quickly… It’s almost gone, and I haven’t had any yet… A few weeks ago I put some Nutella in Banana Bread and also spread some on top of a slice with some additional bananas… So good. I better don’t bake any banana bread while the Nutella is around…

I don’t trust myself with too much cheese around… So I am very careful about what I buy – usually a piece of two from the bits & pieces basket at Whole Foods; it’s cheap, $1-2, and instant portion control…

Have a good Sunday! :)

Nutella is too sweet for me.. but if there is any garlic bread in the house I will likely eat the whole loaf. For that reason it rarely crosses the threshold in my house!

I admire your that you love nutella enough to set it free! Fantastic willpower and commitment!

In my country, we had some stuff similar to nutela. Well, we still do, but I don’t eat it really :D
It had that hazelnuty part, like nutela, but also white hazelnuty part. It’s really wonderful, specially on warm crapes or fresh white bread. My god ,I would so eat it now!

I don’t like Nutella. I like chocolate but I don’t like the nutty taste of Nutella. If you leave me with a jar of almond butter, on the other hand… watch out! :D

Ugh – I love Nutella. I too would never buy it because it wouldn’t last a day on my shelf!

It is so good to know that I am not the only one can finish a jar of Nutella in no time flat. It is amazing by itself or on french bread. Drool…

I have actually never had nutella (I just made peanut butter and chocolate syrup sandwiches, I know, so much better, right?) and don’t plan on ever letting a jar in my house. :) It took me 3 years to allow peanut butter back in, I don’t need another “eat out of the jar” tempting thing in my house…

LOVE NUTELLA. Unfortunately I have no control around it, hence not buying it anymore. Letting it go as you say… *sniff*
