Give-Away: Eat Your Veggies, Kids!

Hey guys!

You know all those New Year’s eve resolutions we made to eat healthier and to incorporate more veggies into our diet (was that just me?)? Well, if you’re anything like me, a lot of those resolutions have fallen by the waist way side. Cheer up, pals — I’ve got just what you need: FREE VEGETABLES. Hey, this is a broke college student’s dream, if you ask me ;)

I am offering five (5) Allens’ products coupons (up to $1.99/each, so close to $10.00 total yay!) to one winner.* This is what I’ll call a “no b-s necessary” give-away. Simply comment that you want some free veggies by midnight 5/13 and you’re entered. I’ll choose a winner on Friday 5/14 morning via random number generator.

I’ll also take a second to plug Allens’ “Feast Your Veggies on This” recipe contest.

Use their products in an original recipe, submit on or before May 15, 2010, and you could win a year supply of Allens’ products. From the contest page: “The top three recipes will be chosen in each of three categories: family entrĂ©es, southern favorites and appetizers/side dishes. The top winner in each category will receive a one year supply of Allens brand vegetables. Second place will receive a six month supply and third place will receive a one month assortment.”

So, the winner of the coupons obviously won’t have time to use the loot in time for the contest, but they’ll definitely be covered in time to celebrate “Eat All Your Veggies Day” on June 17 (say what? yes, yes, it’s true). Or you can always go get your Allens products now and create somethin’ delish. Some of my fave dishes incorporating vegetables are here, here and here — hopefully those’ll inspire you!

What’s your favorite way to use canned or frozen vegetables?

<3,

The Cranky One

*FTC police: Allens gave me these coupons free of charge and without contingencies, strings or what have you. I am only a puppet when it’s in style, or when I’m playing a Toy.

I’ve been told it’s rather possum-like, but eating cold canned peas or corn straight from the can is a favorite indulgence of mine. I may cook elaborately at times, but sometimes, the trailer park habits of my family come shining through.
