A Singer’s Smile
There are few things outside of music-making that can duplicate this smile

My heart will stay in the ABQ, but my body is leaving tonight! School resumes tomorrow. after the 12-hour ride home. oy.
Missing my family, my boyf, my zoo, beach runs, veggies and sleep.
I feel a bit…sloth-like? Been in the studio all day and night the past couple o’ days. Did make time for a 30-min treadmill sesh. Have been snacking on a lot of “car snacks” like cereal and the entire loaf of sesame seed Ezekiel bread and p.b. I brought along
Dude, not gonna lie — even though hotels offer complimentary breakfast, I always get annoyed that they only supply p.b. with hydrogenated oils and the bread is never whole grain. So, I was that douche that literally broke out an unopened jar of p.b. (& her own bread) at the hotel breakfast table.
Thankfully, my bandmate’s wife supplied us with surprise snacks (hidden under my car seat), which included seaweed chips — amazing and unique! And, bonus!, you can eat the entire bag for 30 calories. Yep!
This, by the way, is my new favorite cereal, which I bought spontaneously at Target before the trip for myself and bandmates to snack on.

So.yummo. 28 “biscuits” for 180 calories, 1g fat, 5g fiber, 6g protein and minimal ingredients. Great find.
My mind is filled to the brim with awesome memories and, as I sit here in the studio reminiscing, it’s sad to know tonight means goodbye. I’ve had a blast on this musical (and life) journey with my band brothers. From the spur-of-the-moment decision to find a hotel in the middle of the night and drive an hour and a half out of our way to the Grand Canyon, from the near slips off the edge of the canyon (lol), the middle-of-the-night frolic in the snow that ended with us running frantically back to the car upon sizing up the bear foot prints and hearing some large animal exhale, from late night jam and gab sessions, getting to meet awesome musicians who I admire like Jayne and Jason & Darla, to Joey’s countless and hilarious sayings and phrasings (& references to “Weird Science”), and finally, to hearing our song babies come to life at the hands of producer, and friend, Joey – yea. I gotta say, I feel like the luckiest chick to have such a supportive circle of (amazing & talented) dudes in my life.
I can’t wait to share, musically, what we did this trip. I know I’m biased, but these are the best Toy tracks.ever. And I’m so excited to be able to share them with you later this year. ‘Til then, we’ve gotta prep for our Long Beach show in a week and a half! I feel like my head is spinning a bit right now, but I don’t care to slow down – life’s colors look like a beautiful masterpiece as I swirl around.
So, there you have it. I’m spin-happy and drunk off good vibes. Goodbye ABQ and my dear Joey. But definitely not for long!
<3,
The Cranky One
