Blogging for a Change – Ready, Set, Go!

And…we’re live!
Click, click – check out our site!

If you recall from this post, Elisabeth, Jasmine, Jen and I were inspired by the devastation in Japan to join together to do something. So, we started a charity organization called Blogging for a Change and we’ve set our hopes on using our blog platforms to unite with our amazing readers, friends, families, and healthy-living companies to raise money for worthy charitable causes. First up? The American Red Cross’ Japan-related relief efforts!

Beginning at 9 a.m. EST on April fourth, the Blogging for a Change website will feature a give-away with items donated from numerous organizations and celebrities with healthy living missions, including Hungry Girl, Polar and New Balance (check here for a current list of companies and individuals who’ve extended their support). Every person will have the opportunity to enter to win each item, once, for free. After that, participants will be able to enter for additional chances to win by donating to the American Red Cross. Entries will be accepted until Monday, April 11, 2011, midnight EST. This donation rally is a unique concept — we’re literally giving away awesome goodies in hopes that the generosity of the companies who have donated will move us all to “pay it forward” by being generous to a charity.

Alternately, if you’d simply like to donate without entering to win a particular item, you may do so via the “Donate Now” widget on my page or on the same widget within the Blogging for a Change website.

Summary & Additional Details

  • Time & Date. The rally will begin Monday, April 4, 2011 at 9 a.m. EST on the Blogging for a Change website. It will end on the following Monday, April 11, 2011 at Midnight EST.
  • About Entries. One entry for each item in the rally will be “free,” meaning individuals will be able to win a single entry into the giveaway for each product. All additional entries will require a donation be made to Blogging for a Change to benefit disaster aid in Japan.
  • About Donations. All donations will be accepted through Paypal. These transactions will be secure and will allow donors to use major credit cards and other forms of Paypal-accepted payment.
  • About Winners. Giveaway winners will be drawn on the week of April 11, 2011 using a random number generator. These winners will be notified by email and asked to submit an address. Each address will be given to the appropriate company contact for winning product shipments. No product will be shipped by Blogging for a Change personnel.
  • Straight Donations. Individuals and companies wishing to make a donation without entering the contest may do so through a “Donate Now” button shown prominently on the Blogging for a Change website.
