Give-Away: Clandestino Chocolate Banana

Hey guys!

I heard about Clandestino bars from a co-worker who then told our products manager who then got us free samples, which I then tried. Ah, the chain of free office grub.

Clandestino bills its products as “surfing candy” (which is weird…have you ever seen candy surf? he.he.). Each bar is made with ONE ENTIRE banana and the flavors are plain (which is literally an entire banana and that’s it!), or covered in either milk or dark chocolate.

The dark-chocolate-covered Clandestino bar is freakin’ delicious. The banana is soft and chewy and the dark chocolate just makes everything even more delicious (it always does, doesn’t it?).

No preservatives or artificial stuff, just delicious.

You would think these bars, being billed as “candy” would be filled with junk, but they’re not. Here’s what’s up with the dark chocolate variety:

Nutrition Facts* per serving (1 bar/30g): 120 calories, 3.27g fat (1.9g sat fat), 0.58mg sodium, 21.74g carbs, 1.59g fiber, 15.95g sugars, 1.24g protein *taken from physical bar

Ingredients: fresh bananas and chocolate cover (cocoa liquor, sugar, cocoa butter, NON-GMO soy lecithin)

Because Clandestino is nice and generous, they’re offering a box of the dark chocolate flavor to one lucky reader. Entries are open to US residents only. Please enter by Sunday, August, 5th, 11:59 p.m. PST.

The bars can be purchased at most independent grocers in San Francisco, Whole Foods in L.A., Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and San Diego, and Heinen’s Fine Foods in Ohio. For readers not on the West Coast, the bars can be purchased through their
website.

Okay, I liked your twitter feed, thumbed up your Facebook page, flirted with your eHarmony profile, offered a job to your LinkedIn profile, double-snapped your pinterest page and loved up on your myspace page. Surely that wins me the prize!!!!!!

These look like they are only offered at the Southern California Whole Food Stores. Wonder why they aren’t in Whole Foods here in Northern California? :(
