About

Hello, I’m Annabel! I used to be a 280-pound teenager who didn’t have a clue on the how, why, what, where or when to being healthy. Now 28 years old and 150 pounds lighter, I’m truly grasping what it means to thrive.

Growing up alongside my twin brother Chris, I was used to sharing genes, birthdays and a snarky sense of humor. But when this whole sharing business included morbid obesity and binge eating as a coping mechanism, Chris and I decided we needed to share a game plan rather than another fast-food menu. Working together, we planned healthy meals and fitness regimes and lost over 250 pounds cumulatively. I started Feed Me, I’m Cranky two years ago to document my progress in losing my “final pounds” and maintaining the bulk of my 150-pound weight loss. I didn’t envision that in those two years I’d go from omnivore to vegetarian to vegan, battle and conquer bulimia, and find a community of support from strangers. Over the years I’ve become more interested in the real food movement, food politics and the rhetoric behind the media’s portrayal of the “obesity crisis.”

I’ve been fortunate to be featured in Fitness Magazine and AOL’s That’s Fit.

In my professional life, I also work towards making health education and healthy living accessible to everyone. I am currently the community and media relations manager for h.u.m.a.n. Healthy Vending (“h.u.m.a.n.” stands for Helping Unite Mankind and Nutrition). I’ve always said I would only do PR for a company I truly believed in, so, I’ve found my match.

Previous to this, I have worked as a ghostwriter for a health-focused celebrity, as a fact-checker for NY Times Best-Selling author Lisa “Hungry Girl” Lillien, and in marketing/PR for various companies and organizations. I hold an M.A. in English and am in the beginning writing stages for a book on food politics and nutrition. In addition to being a blogger, I’m also the singer in The Antique Toys (check out our release here) and Pristina, my boyfriend’s personal chef and an avid runner.

I hope to hear about your health journeys — where you’ve been and where you’re headed — and hope we can learn from each other.
